DVCFeral Cat Shelter Building Project

  "Evolved Rescue"
is the union of municipal and private animal shelters and rescues
working TOGETHER as an umbrella of animal advocacy groups
providing services to save companion animal lives.
DVCFeral Cat Shelter Building Project
On Sunday, March 14, over 250 attendees and more than 100 volunteers made "Canines on the Catwalk"
a successful anniversary celebration of the
Animal Lifeline Thrift Shop!

We had such high hopes for the day, but we'd never done anything like this before (has anyone?!) and knew we couldn't be sure what the day would be like until it was over!   A fashion show featuring thrift shop clothing? Volunteer models?  Escorted by dogs?

It was a BLAST!  We've heard from so many people who enjoyed attending a fundraiser that was really FUN!  Thank you so much for all your positive comments and suggestions on how to make our next event even better!

There is no way to fully express thanks to everyone who volunteered for "Canines on the Catwalk".  This was a massive undertaking and it could not have been done without help from many hands.  On the actual day of the event, I should have given a shout-out to Krista Anthony, who coordinated all those great looks you saw on the runway.  Several people pulled fashions from the store in addition to Krista, but she was the one who supervised the fitting sessions and put it all together, which makes sense because her business, A Fresh Look for You, is all about restyling your own wardrobe, closet organization and personal shopping.  And we were lucky enough to have her on our team!  Our crowd definitely approved of Krista's selections, too, because we sold almost every piece of thrift shop clothing that came down the runway!

Thanks to the many of you who came out and made "Canines on the Catwalk" such a successful and spirit-lifting day!  We look forward to letting you know what Animal Lifeline will do with all the funds raised in celebration of the 1st Anniversary of the Animal Lifeline Thrift Shop!

Yours in Rescue,

Denise Bash

We're still working on compiling additional images from our event, so if you took some great pictures while you were at "Canines on the Catwalk", we'd love to see them!  Send your digital files to Mary, or mail hard copies right to the store -- thanks very much!

NECESSITIES!
We could use paper towels and bleach.  We also acknowledge that kitten season is beginning, and while we don't plan to keep any at the store, life very rarely goes according to plan.  So we'd also like to have kitten food and newspaper or pine kitty litter on hand (the clumping clay variety isn't the safest choice for kittens' tiny heinies).

As always, thank you
for continuing to provide much-needed supplies!

VOLUNTEERS
ALWAYS NEEDED!

There are many volunteer opportunities available with Animal Lifeline!

Where can you fit in?:
  • sales floor and cashier person
  • stock person
  • merchandising
  • office work
  • animal care at the store
  • foster care
  • public relations
  • grant writing
  • educational outreach
  • transport drivers
  • home check volunteers
  • in-store ebay listers

We have volunteers who help out once a month; once a week; almost every day; only on school breaks...figure out what works for you!

Don't just mention that you'd like to help -- come on in, set up a training time, put your name on the calendar in the hallway and get started with volunteering at Animal Lifeline!

For more information on volunteering, or if you know of another way you can be part of Animal Lifeline, please stop by or call Denise or Laurie at 215-343-5050.

Kitten Season is Upon Us!

The Animal Lifeline Thrift Shop functions best when our limited number of volunteers are able to focus on merchandise and don't have to spend time scooping kitty litter and cleaning cat food bowls.  But at this time of year, the kittens begin to appear and we already have a couple of cuties in need of homes!

We have several foster home options when a dog needs temporary placement, but only ONE feline foster home.  If you think you might be able to help out and would enjoy some cuddle time with kittens or an adult cat in need of more attention than we can give here in the store setting, please contact Laurie to learn more about a few feline foster home requirements.

And if you just can't resist this cute pair of kitty paws,
send your name, phone, and veterinarian contact info
and we'll arrange for you to meet Cole & Roman
(currently staying at that one and only feline foster home)!
