NutritionIssuesNutrition Issues for Your Pet

Proper nutrition is a critical component in keeping your pet healthy! Malnutrition and obesity in pets can cause diseases ranging from diabetes to cancer. Take the guesswork out of what you should feed your cat or dog.  This class will provide valuable information that will help you:

  • Choose healthy food & treats for your pet.
  • Determine if your pet is overweight or underweight.
  • Learn how to read nutritional labels on your pet's food bag.
  • Understand how often and how much to feed your pet.
  • Decide if store-bought or home-cooked would be better for your pet.
  • Understand more about raw food diets.

Please join us for this invaluable class and learn how to help your pet maintain their ideal body weight and live a long and healthy life.  BE SURE TO BRING A COPY OF THE NUTRITION INFORMATION FROM YOUR PET'S FOOD -- OR JUST BRING ALONG THE WHOLE BAG OR CAN!

LessonsInLeadershipLessons in Leadership

 Are you "The Big Cheese",

or just the human who has some cheese?

How do you communicate leadership to your dog? Is the trick in the training?  At this workshop, we will take a look at common approaches to working with dogs and the subtle ways that you can communicate "leadership". We'll discuss the dog/human dynamic, social hierarchies, body language displays, and much more.

This class is great for ANYONE who owns a dog and wishes to raise the bar of communication with their pet.  We have been told that the only surefire way to get results is through strict "obedience" training, but there are other subtle ways to reinforce your authority and still get the results you desire.

KidsandDogsComboCampKids and Dogs Combo Camp

This camp is designed for animal handlers ages 9-13 years old to work with their dogs. Opportunity Barks trainers will work with the children and their dogs to train and master great tricks, and introduce their dogs to activities like agility and scent work. Kids will also make some toys and participate in great arts & crafts with our pups. We'll discuss what makes dogs tick and build a relationship based on mutual respect with our four-legged friends!

If you don't want to bring your dog don't
worry -- there are very well-behaved dogs used by the professional handlers for training purposes and the kids can learn with them.

Drinks & snacks will be provided.
